open threads Concepts related to Connectivity, Software Engineering
I believe there is Synechodoche or causality between well-being of a sytem's relations or connections and their overall system health. unhealthy or unexamined relationships promote and manifest in disease, unhealthy connection to food leads to obesity, unhealthy connection to money leads to gambling or ultimately poverty or wealthy-person-brain.
technology with a large surface area of dependencies, unexplored and shifting, should be looked at with care. any time spent understanding the relationships it has is time spent ultimately understanding the problems which plague a system. This understanding manifests in choices and conversations that steer a system and you can ultimately improve the state of the system in this manner.
This is evident in the practices of Site Reliability Engineering -- regular time spent understanding the relationships between a piece of software and other software, between the software and users, and operators, and ultimately the larger organization it resides within, leads to an increase in that system's health, and the health of its parent system -- the company or project -- as well as the user community and ultimately everyone connected out to multiple levels of connection-graph-depth.
